What’s so special about April 18? Of course, it’s my birthday! And it’s extra special this year because for the first time ever there will be an Arts and Crafts Fair in the city (the first in the entire region that is!) featuring well-loved brands such as Zig Philippines, Sakura, Uni, Titus, Reeves, Limelight, LK Art, Stabilo, in cooperation with the Ormoc City Visual Artists Association and made possible by Shopko, our friendly neighborhood school and office supplies store.
I myself am a huge fan of calligraphy and visual arts, as evidenced by my Instagram feed. Obviously, I lean towards using Zig Kuretake products most of the time not just because of personal choice but they offer excellent pigment and colors. I started learning calligraphy not too long ago but did not attend any workshops and am self-taught. You know, there are so much FREE stuff on the Internet. And when you’ve got free time, all you gotta do is pick up the right pen and scribble away! Calligraphy has taught me to be patient, to persevere, and to appreciate everything hand-made and handwritten. The effort that is put into it is just beautiful and the outcome, regardless of style, is always a thing to marvel at.
Did I mention how much I love using Zig Kuretake products? YUP! I can’t stress it enough and I also can’t get enough of it! They have so many types of media you can use to bring that imagination to life.
Contrary to what most people think, you don’t have to be truly artsy-fartsy to enjoy calligraphy. You don’t even need a good penmanship! Because, honestly, there’s no harm in trying. Progress not perfection! In fact, this is the most relaxing and therapeutic hobby I’ve ever had.
It’s a Philippine holiday today but the skies are dark and gloomy. Weather ain’t happy and I have work to do. But wait, it’s been a while since I picked up a pen and paper. I miss my @zigphilippines #Cocoiro brush pens! So here’s a little #hyperlapse to get me through the day. Good morning, world! ️️ Don’t get caught in a torrential downpour! Stay safe and dry! #bastaigatsikat #calligraphy #calligraphyph #handwriting #penmanship #zig #kuretake #writing #brush #pen #write #words #quote
I know I have a long way to go to be a great calligrapher or a visual artist. I’m not a pro at this and I still have to practice a lot more. So really, it’s all about drills, drills, drills…
When I am frustrated, I take comfort in knowing that this is something I am truly passionate about and bottom line, it makes me so damn happy. I can’t explain it. Every time I see a new pen, I get that tingling sensation at the back of my spine, some butterflies in my tummy and I get all stimulated. HAHA! I know, right? It’s weird but I love it. I can’t deny it. I’m a sucker for it. Noodle Boy won’t even argue with me.
I get so many messages and comments asking me where I bought my Zig Kuretake products. Sad to say, because I’m geographically-challenged, those were all ordered online, some from local resellers and others shipped from Amazon. The good news is you can now buy all these from Shopko at their store located at Lopez Jaena Street, Ormoc City!!!
So on April 18, 2017, wish me a happy birthday and come to the workshops held by no other than the talented Norman Bauzon and the awesome Anina Rubio, who I simply adore, for her amazing talent in visual arts (her watercolor pieces are the bomb and her calligraphy is definitely one of the best you can ogle at!) 😍
Spend a day of fun with us at the Arts and Crafts Fair that will be held at the 2F Tribeca Plaza (above Bo’s Coffee Ormoc) at Rizal Street, Ormoc City. And the best part is — ADMISSION IS FREE!!!
