They say, “Give a woman the right lipstick and she can conquer the world.” Amen to that! But what’s better than the right lipstick? The right MATTE lipstick! To say that I’m a fan of matte lipsticks is an understatement. I LOVE THEM TO THE MOON AND BACK!
Why? First of all, they don’t smudge and they don’t smear and I can’t be bothered to check my lipstick every now and then, nor do I have the habit of bringing along lipstick for touch-ups when I’m out and about. Heck, I hardly ever carry a bag or purse! True story. Secondly, when you find a lipstick that is transfer-proof, then you’re all set. More time for conquering!!! Whatever it is you gotta conquer. But, ’nuff said.
SilkyGirl, the Malaysian cosmetics brand that has just recently landed to the Philippine shores, has two types of matte lipsticks. The first one is called the GO MATTE LIP COLORS and they aren’t really quite matte as I would have liked them because they lean towards the creamy side. So they’re more like semi-matte me thinks.
I am guessing it must be because of the Shea Butter, Safflower oil and Papaya extract in the formulation which are meant to moisturize, nourish, and smoothen your lips. They now have a total of 10 shades for this line and the latest bold colors are the ones I got which are: 07 Daring Pink, 09 Loud Fuchsia, 08 Foxy Red and 10 Spicy Marsala.
- Glides easily
- No Fragrance
- No carmine and free from animal testing
Then we have the MATTE JUNKIE LIP CREAMS and this is the MATTE that I just can’t live without. ㅋㅋㅋ.
Ah, yes, they come in liquid lipstick form that dries to a matte finish. (Think NYX Lip Creams.) I got the 5 rich and highly pigmented shades: 01 Retro, 02 Glamour, 03 Rebel, 04 Vintage and 05 Vixen. There have released 4 more newer shades that are now available in the market, too.
- Paraben-free and
- Not tested on animals
Okay, now onto the best part… LIP SWATCH TIME! Seriously though, I thought my lips were going to get ripped off after swatching all of these in one go. So please, don’t hate, appreciate! 😉
Should I pick a favorite? Well, of course. I pick the reddest of the bunch and that is the Matte Junkie Lip Cream in Vixen. But the nude/neutral shades are perfect for everyday/casual look (which is like 6 days of the week for me!). The pink ones I’ll have to wear them with matching outfits, because I guess that’s the only time I ever wear pink lippies. Tee hee.
These are available in most Robinson’s Department Stores. The SilkyGirl Go Matte Lip Color retails for only Php 279.00 while the SilkyGirl Go Matte Junkie Lip Creams are sold at Php 299.00 each. Visit their official site at www.silkycosmetics.com.
